This will be a half day training session for service providers, philanthropic partners and public servants leading the efforts on producing positive outcomes for men and boys of color.

Vision. Make Philadelphia a safer city for every resident by advancing positive and productive opportunities for Black males aged 14-24 who are living in disinvested communities.

Objective of the Session. Strengthen local capacity to apply an explicit racial equity lens to the city’s initiatives that work to reduce violence towards and improve outcomes for black men and boys.

Expected Results. Participants will:

  • Appreciate the importance of using an intentional racial equity lens in the work
  • Be introduced to a framework to advance racial equity that focuses on policies and practices
  • Have a shared language and basic concepts for talking about race productively
  • Be introduced to three core tools that can advance equity for Black males
  • See how the work to realize the vision can enlist a broad range of stakeholder

This training is being provided by Cities United and is in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Black Male Engagement, Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP) Philly, Association of Black Foundation Executives (ABFE), Philadelphia Black Philanthropic Network, and the Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia.
